GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 516
THE LABOUR RELATIONS ACT (No. 14 of 2007)
COLLECTION OF TRADE UNION DUES

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Section 48 of the Labour Relations Act, the Minister for Labour:  

  1. Revokes the orders published under Gazette Notice No. 6933 of 2007.
  2. Orders every employer who employs not less than five (5) members of Banking, Insurance and Finance Union (Kenya);
  3. To deduct every month the sum specified in the schedule in respect of trade union dues from the wages of his/her employees who are members of that trade union.
  4. To pay within ten (10) days of the deduction, the total sums deducted under the first items of the schedule by closed cheque made payable to Banking, Insurance and Finance Union (Kenya) into that union’s Account No. 01-020-741448-00 at the Standard Chartered Bank Limited, Harambee Avenue Branch, P.O. Box 20063, Nairobi.
  5. To pay within ten (10) days of the date of the deduction, the total sums deducted under item two of the schedule. By crossed cheque made payable to the Central Organization of Trade Unions (Kenya) into that organizations Account No. 140-792-7 at Barclays Bank of Kenya Limited, Queensway Branch, P.O. Box 300011, Nairobi.
  6. To notify that trade Union and the organization in writing and within one (1) month of the payment.
  7. To make written returns to the Registrar of Trade Unions within one (1) month of making all the payments to that trade union and to that organization.

SCHEDULE

Deductions

  1. The sum of 1% of basic salary subject to a minimum of KSh. 250 and a maximum of KSh. 600 from the basic wages of each employee per month.
  2. The sum of fifty shillings (KSh. 50) from the wage of each employee.
