PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed Desnol Service Station.

The proposed development entails construction and operation of a Service Station at Kisian Junction along Kisumu-Busia road in Kisumu North District. The project will deal with sale of petroleum  fuel products, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sales, tyre sales and repair, vehicle servicing and car washing.

The proposed Desnol Service Station project will be located on land parcels L.R. NO KISUMU/OJOLA/ 3927, 4116 & 4393 at Kisian Junction on the Kisumu-Busia Road.

The project anticipates the impacts and mitigation measures set out in the gazette.

FOR THE PROPOSED ONSHORE OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION
IN BLOCK 1-WAJIR AND MANDERA REGION

INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed onshore oil and gas exploration.

The seismic survey technique that will be used for the proposed project is a two dimensional seismic survey (2D). The seismic program is expected to take 3 months each to complete depending on the preparation programme.

During onshore seismic surveys, an energy source will cause vibrations producing echoes from each of several geologic boundary layers below surface. The results will show geologically significant information as deep as 4km below the surface. The images recorded are built (processed) into a depth profile showing potential hydrocarbon containing structures. The proposed oil and gas exploration will be in Block 1-Wajir and Mandera Region.

LANET-NAIVASHA 2ND 33KV BAYS AND LINE

INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact  Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed Lanet – Naivasha 2nd 33kV Bays and Lines.

The project entails development of 81 kilometers of 33 kV distribution line connecting Lanet Substation to Suswa Substation. The project starts at Lanet in the County Council of Nakuru within the outskirts of Municipal Council of Nakuru in Nakuru District and ends  up in Suswa substation located in Municipal Council of Naivasha in Naivasha District.

The project will entail construction of power lines comprised of electrical conductors supported on 14 to 15 metre high concrete poles. Close to 360 concrete poles will be erected for purposes of mounting the conductors on which the 33 kV power supply will be distributed. The project will require a 5-metre wide Right of Way corridor along
the entire routes of traverse implying that about 40 ha of land will be acquired for the project. The design of the project has however been done to use the existing road reserve along the main Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Further, all trees growing above 7m height will be cleared in line with requirements of the KPLC.

The project anticipates the impacts and mitigation measures set out in the gazette.

The proposed Place Poa Campsite will involve several facilities such as two washrooms with a septic tank for handling waste water, a store, car park, an office block with a kitchen, dining area and a service store, three timber houses to serve as alternative
accommodation for those who would not want to use tents and a fence around the project area.

The project is located on one decimal six sixty-two (1.662) hectares on Plot L.R No. 20951/43 in Moiben Location, Kongoni Division of Naivasha District.

The proposed residential development entails construction of 100 units comprising of basic 3 bedroom house constituting a master bedroom and 2 other bedrooms, kitchen, dining lounge, 2 parking lots per unit, veranda, landscaped grounds and lawns with beautiful gardens and playing fields. The facility shall observe eco friendly principals, green infrastructure features being incorporated. The project will have storage water tanks to supply water for each unit.Effluent will be managed through the construction of recommended sewer pipes and septic tanks.

The proposed development will be on a 5.22 ha piece of land located on L.R. No. KJD/Kaputiei North/31441 which lies within Kitengela town in Kajiado District.
