LIFTING OF BAN

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 192 (i) and (vii) of the Agriculture Act, and paragraph 14 of the Horticultural Crops Development Authority Order, the Minister for Agriculture lifts the ban on the export of raw nuts (nuts in shell) of the following varieties:
Macadamia nut (Macadamia SPB), Cashew nut (Anacarcadium Occidentale), Pistachio nut (Pistachio Vera) and Oyster nut (Tarfaira Pedata) starting 15th December, 2010 to 30th June, 2011, so as to facilitate the mop up of the excess raw nuts with farmers.

MOMBASA ROAD, NAIROBI
INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed fuel depot.

The proposed project comprises of construction of a fuel depot, a business venture whose activities involve storage and selling of petroleum products. The fuel depot shall be handling diesel, kerosene and petrol. These products shall be stored in 50,000 litres above ground tank each. The tanks shall be three in numbers.

The proposed fuel depot will be located off Mombasa Road, behind Libra House on Park Road Avenue. This is on L.R No. 209/10630.

INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed Aberdare Hills Golf Estate and Resort.

The proposed project involves construction of 216 residential units, a club house and an 18-hole golf course layout of approximately 6,536m2 constructed to full international and USGS championship specifications complete with a driving range, practice and tuition facilities. The residential units are classified as follows:

• Type A units occupying half an acre plot each.
• Type B units occupying an acre plot each.
• Type C (Custom designed) units occupying a two acre plot each.

The proposed land for development is located north of Lake Naivasha, delineated by the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway; Malewa River and the Eastern Escarpment. It occupies an area of 350ha on L.R. No. 425/56 and L.R. No. 425/58.

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed luxury tented camps.
The proposed project involves construction and operations of:

• Accommodation units of: 30 visitor beds at Burqueque and 30 beds at Malkarobia.
• Plunge pool in both camps at both each sites;
• A kitchen and dining at both sites;
• A fully stocked book library and video library with reading material and audio visuals on conservation, reserve history and cultural information at both sites;
• Viewing decks in rooms and public areas.
• An office with reception at both sites
• 10 bed driver accommodation – dormitory style
• Six senior staff accommodation units
• 20 staff accommodation
• Staff canteen and recreation facility
• Ablution block/staff and drivers

The proposed project will be located in two sites: Burqueque and Malkarobia. Both sites are within Bisanandi National Reserve, Garbatulla District, Isiolo County.

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the proposed petrol station, small business park and body-works garage.

The proposed expansion shall include a modern garage and workshop, a business park (comprising of ten double storey buildings), a petrol station for own use (to fill cars that have been serviced and worked on), a tyre centre, a coffee shop and a staff canteen.
The proposed project is located along Lang’ata Road

approximately ten kilometres from the city centre on plot No. LR/11892/2, which measures approximately 0.9837 hectares (2.5 acres).
